Privacy Policy

At Dali, a product of Alcance Technologies Ltd., your privacy and data security are our top priorities. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our marketplace.

1. NDPA Compliance

We are fully compliant with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. We employ end-to-end encryption for all personal identifiable information (PII) and guarantee that we do not sell your data to third parties.

2. Information We Collect

To operate a trusted marketplace, we collect the following:

  • Identity Information: Your institutional email address (.edu.ng) and Student ID cards.
  • Transaction Data: Escrow records, item listings, and chat histories.
  • Device & Analytics Information: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how our app is used so we can improve performance, especially on low-end devices and slow networks. This includes pages visited, actions taken (such as searches, listings created, and purchases), device type, browser, approximate location (city level), and how you arrived at Dali. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly for:

  • Verifying your student status to keep the marketplace safe.
  • Processing Safe-Lock escrow transactions.
  • Resolving disputes between buyers and sellers.
  • Understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve Dali (via Google Analytics).

4. Google Analytics

Dali uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States. Google Analytics helps us understand how users interact with our app so we can improve the experience.

Google Analytics collects information such as: how often users visit Dali, what pages they visit, what other sites they used prior to Dali, and what city-level location they are in. We use this information to improve Dali and do not combine this data with personally identifiable information.

Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or remarketing purposes — only for product analytics.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which tells the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js) not to send website visit information to Google Analytics.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with:

  • Google LLC: anonymized, aggregated analytics data via Google Analytics as described above.
  • Paystack: payment processing data (card details are never stored by Dali).
  • Law enforcement: only when legally required.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information only as long as your account is active. You may request account deletion at any time, which will permanently remove your Student ID and chat history from our servers.

Google Analytics data is retained for 2 months and is automatically deleted thereafter. You can also delete your Google Analytics data via your Google Account.
